چکیده

Variable-frequency microwave (VFM) curing can perform the same processing steps as conventional thermal processing in minutes, without compromising intrinsic material properties. With increasing demand for novel dielectrics, there is a corresponding demand for new processing techniques that lead to comparable or better properties than conventional methods. VFM processing can be a viable alternative to conventional thermal techniques. However, current limitations include a lack of reliable temperature measuring techniques. This research focuses on developing a reliable temperature measuring system using acoustic techniques to monitor low-k polymer dielectrics cured on silicon wafers in a VFM furnace. The acoustic sensor exhibits the capability to measure temperatures from 20 C to 300 C with an attainable accuracy of 2 degrees.

Switchable and tunable bulk acoustic wave resonators based on BaxSr1−xTiO3 thin films

The main focus of this thesis is the study of a novel microwave component, the tunable thin film bulk acoustic wave resonator (TFBAR), based on ferroelectric BaxSr1−xTiO3 thin films. Conventional fixed frequency TFBARs, widely used for filtering applications in wireless communication systems, are based on ordinary piezoelectrics. The tunable TFBAR on the other hand utilizes the dc field induced...

Automated Method for Characterizing Temperature Dependent Dielectric Materials

Among the various methods to accelerate curing thermoset polymers, such as epoxy, involves the use of radio frequency (RF) fields. In this, the polymer precursor materials are placed in a microwave reactor, high power RF fields are introduced, and the electrical (or for that matter, magnetic) loss mechanisms convert the RF power to heat and therefore inducing curing. One of the most challenging...

Ultra-high Q Acoustic Resonance in Superfluid He

We report the measurement of the acoustic quality factor of a gram-scale, kilo-hertz frequency superfluid resonator, detected through the parametric coupling to a superconducting niobium microwave cavity. For temperature between 400mK and 50mK, we observe a T−4 temperature dependence of the quality factor, consistent with a 3-phonon dissipation mechanism. We observe Q factors up to 1.4 · 10, co...

Prediction of 28-day Compressive Strength of Concrete from Early Strength and Accelerated Curing Parameters

Abstract-Predicting 28-day compressive strength of concrete is an important research task for many years. In this study, concrete specimens were cured in two phases, initially at room temperature for a maximum of 30 h and later at a higher temperature for accelerated curing for a maximum of 3 h. Using the early strength obtained after the two-phase curing and the curing parameters, regression e...
